Hercules (The Disney Movie)

I haven't seen that movie in a really long time. I can't really remember even what it's about, but I wanted to respond to Kailey's questions. I think that all heros have problems, some of them just aren't as obvious as having anger management issues. Some heros over think things, act too quickly or too slowly. I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing. If they can work hard to overcome their weaknesses, they will become stronger people, and more indestructable as heros.

  1. I think your right many hero's have flaws and have over come them to be able to make them stronger. The over coming usually happens at the road of trials. Like Spiderman for example after his Uncle dies which is like his father figure he goes out for revenge, but he realizes that this isn't what his Uncle would have wanted so he goes out to stop crime. So his flaw was revenge for the fallen, but he over came this which made him stronger. Can you think of other characters who have over come a flaw( maybe a better word for it is weakness) and have made them stronger?? And what would have happened if they wouldn't have?

  2. The heroic archetype that we see repeatedly leaves room for the hero to feel vulnerable, weak, unwilling, hesitant, filled with the desire for vengence. What is it about us, humanity, that our heroes so closely resemble our own qualities?

  3. I think we do this for our own comfort. We want to portray the strong as weak, because we want to make ourselves feel better about having flaws. If we give a god like hero for example Achilles a weakness like his heel then we would never feel so bad about having our flaws.
